Many a true word spoken in jest

There is many a true word spoken in jest. There are quite a few amusing cartoons which we have seen over the years. I hope you enjoy these. None are meant to be unkind, and on many occasions when e.g. light-hearted quips can help us understand and empathise more. No harm intended.

  • "Anxiety is when you know 2 + 2 = 4, but you have to think about it"
(said to me by a patient on an old age ward at St. Andrews Hospital, Norwich)
  • A psychopharmacologist is someone who knows so much about drugs, they ought to be too scared to use them
(said by a psychopharmacologist at a conference)
  • "The trouble with being an in-patient here is that if you move, they drug you, and if you don't move, they shock you
(said to a colleague during a group medication education session)
  • "If the brain were simple enough that we could understand it, we'd be so simple that we couldn't".
    (Accredited to Paul Greengard)

One for British readers:
This car was parked
opposite my holiday appartment
on the Greek island of Lemnos in 1996.
Just what I wanted after a hard years work!
